Since its founding, the university has realized the importance of scientific research and its role in developing societies, considering that one of its tasks is to keep up with excellence, achieve a social incentive towards research and discovery, and support the necessary means for that.
The university has given special attention to scientific research, and has established research centers, including the Iraqi Center of Sugarcane Research, which is responsible for supporting academic research, as it is one of the goals of development and technological progress.
The role played by the Iraqi Center of Sugarcane Research in spreading human knowledge can be understood through its constant endeavor to develop scientific activities locally and globally.
The research center has focused extensively on developing its tools, so that the research includes many specializations, with the need to emphasize unified and comprehensive courses. The Iraqi Center of Sugarcane Research aimed to assist faculty members at the university in order to develop their scientific research and raise its standard, reaching universality and enhancing human knowledge.
To achieve this, the Iraqi Center of Sugarcane Research provides researchers with all the necessary latest tools and programs that help them produce research in the best possible way.
The responsibilities undertaken by the Iraqi Center of Sugarcane Research are as follows:
– Publishing original research proposals, studies, books and translations.
– Issuing a peer-reviewed scientific journal entitled (Iraqi Journal of Sugarcane Research).
– Encouraging faculty members and other researchers and urging them to conduct innovative scientific research, and providing research means and capabilities for them, especially those who are full-time academics, and enabling them to complete their research in an appropriate scientific environment.
– Holding seminars, workshops, training courses and scientific conferences.
– Diversifying the sources of scientific research among faculty members and graduate students at the university.
